London and New York will top the list of any analyst’s most popular financial capitals but in Asia lies Tokyo, the largest metropolis in the world. Tokyo is regarded as one of the
three financial command centres in the world today alongside the afore-mentioned cities. Its economy is however the largest amongst the three. A report by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Tokyo urban Area has a population of 35.2 million people (twice the population of
Lagos State) and has a GDP of $1.479 trillion as at 2008. Interestingly, 51 of the Fortune 500 companies are based in Japan as at 2009, twice the number based in Paris.
